Integrity.Determination.Diligence.
Becapt focuses on acquiring small businesses (SMBs) as an industry-agnostic vehicle, throughout Western Europe and Canada.
Acquisition criteriaWhy small businesses
Becapt acquires SMBs across industries. Two reasons drive that focus.
A generational handover
Baby boomers own a large share of today's SMBs and will sell many of them as they retire. In Canada, over $2 trillion in business assets could change hands within ten years,1 and across Europe around 450,000 businesses change owners every year.2
Cash flow first, upside second
Target businesses already generate cash and typically return investors' equity within two to three years. Further upside comes from better business practices and technology.
The context
Populations across developed economies are ageing, and business ownership is ageing with them.
Around 450,000 European businesses employing some 2 million people change hands every year, and about 150,000 of them risk an unsuccessful transfer, endangering around 600,000 jobs.2 In Germany alone, around 109,000 SMBs a year plan a succession until 2029, while some 114,000 a year consider closing without one.5
76% of small business owners plan to exit within ten years, putting over $2 trillion in business assets in play; only 9% have a formal succession plan.1

Profitable
Small money, but real money.
Simple to explain
If your parents can't understand it over dinner, we probably can't either.
Ten years or older
You've been around long enough to know what you are.
Something defensible
A brand people search for by name. A community that shows up. A niche nobody else wants.
A team worth keeping
People who'd be hard to replace, and harder to let go of.
Healthy margins
Enough room to breathe, invest, and sleep well.
No sketchy stuff
If we'd be embarrassed to tell our moms about it, we'll pass.
Becapt operates ethically and with values first. Always.
